GROOVE Premiere: The first show at the new Artistical Theater Essen

In September 2026, the time has come: the new GOP Artistical Theater at Rottstraße 30 in Essen opens its doors—and with it, GROOVE celebrates its premiere. The first show in a theater built from the ground up for a new show format. Here you will find all the information about the premiere weekend.

What is GROOVE?

GROOVE is an Artistical — a combination of world-class acrobatics, live music and an immersive theater experience. The show pays tribute to the disco era of the 1970s and brings together international artists such as singer Della Miles, the Skating Donnert's, the acrobatics duo Isabela & Ernesto, comedian Sébastien Tardif and many more. Around 120 minutes of show, family-friendly, captivating.

What is new about the theater?

The GOP Artistical Theater is not being renovated, but built completely new. Highlights include Europe's first stage bar, an immersive auditorium with state-of-the-art LED technology and a foyer that immerses you in the world of GROOVE from the very first moment. Architecture, technology and atmosphere were developed specifically for the Artistical format.

Tickets and prices

Tickets for GROOVE start at €49 (price category 3) and go up to €79 (premium). The premiere weekend is already almost sold out – secure the best seats early. Vouchers are available from €10 and are valid for three years.

Getting to the premiere

The GOP Artistical Theater is located at Rottstraße 30 in downtown Essen – ten minutes from the main train station. Parking is available in the Allbau underground garage opposite (100 meters, 24 hours, video monitored). Public transport: Viehofer Platz stop (200 meters) or Rheinischer Platz (200 meters). If you’d like to stay overnight, you can book a hotel+show package.
